Shanon Calibrated Series Plywood Panels are specifically tailored towards modular furniture manufacturers who use extensively automated machinery to produce high-quality furniture for their elite clientele. Calibrated Plywood is known as such because they are calibrated during the manufacturing process to have zero tolerance for thickness variation and other defects so that every panel is consistently a high-quality standard product. This allows the OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to focus on their design and project execution instead of worrying about the underlying raw material.
Shanon Calibrated Series Plywood was developed keeping in mind the underlying core tenet of Shanon Ply house – “Unhindered Creativity by landscape and interior artists should have the best resources, to begin with, that’s why we’re out to deliver the finest plywood.”
Shanon Calibrated Ply is made with triple press technology to ensure maximum consistency and eliminate any defects in each consecutive step. The composing of the caliber series ply is done with 8×2 full core panels to ensure zero core gaps or overlaps. The composed ply is first pressed in a cold press without the face veneer to maximize glue(resin) absorption in each layer of the core veneers before it is sent to the hot press for curing the resin and creating a strongly bonded ply sheet. These face veneer–less panels are then calibrated in a thickness calibration machine to sand off any irregularities and bring down the thickness variation to below 0.4mm in any given panel. This calibrated panel is then further sent to have face veneers glued to both sides before being moved to hot press again to fortify the existing bonding as well as have the face veneers bond properly on both sides. This Panel is then further sent again to the calibration machine to sand off any remaining face veneer defects and bring down the thickness variation to below 0.3mm in any given panel. This industry-wide minimum thickness variation of 0.3mm helps eliminate any irregularities while laminate pressing or joint making by the modular furniture manufacturers or the OEMs thus ensuring consistent high-quality furniture every time.
